Three SBIR grants were awarded to BlueSky Designs through the CSREES/USDA SBIR program.  The grants supported work on an Accessible Tent and a Watercraft Transfer Device.

Continuation of Phase I research. Resulted in licensing of accessible tent designs to Eureka, and commercialization of the Freedom Tent and other tents with the patented Fan Door.  Several patents also resulted.

The Freedom tent is no longer in production.

In-tent-ionally Accessible Vestibule and Tent for People with and Without Disabilities
The goal of this project was to design accessible camping tents and vestibules for with a broader population in mind. Using the principles of universal design, the structures were easily accessible and functional for people with and without disabilities.  See the Projects section for more information.

All Aboard: Development of Portable Watercraft Transfer Technology to Increase Access to Boating for People with Disabilities
The goal of this project was to design devices to make boating accessible to a broader population. Phase 2 was not awarded.  Additional grants have been awarded, but there is not yet a commercial outcome.
Status
The USDA has helped generate product concepts for watercraft transfer and resulted in a commercially-available accessible tent for a period of 5 years.  The Freedom tent was produced by Eureka and won a DaVinci Award.  Production was discontinued in 2012, and it is no longer available.
